68 ICELAND REVIEW Fresh Fish Daily Delivering the freshest fish the fastest way possible is the simple rule upon which Danica Seafood bases its thriving export business. Danica’s dedication to providing cus- tomers with top quality supplies of cod, haddock, halibut, ocean catfish, monkfish, ocean perch, salmon and other species has succeeded in making the company a leader in service markets worldwide with Icelandic fish. Established in 1993, Danica has honed its personal approach to exporting fish. The day begins early for company president Jan Thomsen and Danica’s dedicated team. When most Icelanders are fast asleep, they are scouring the local fish markets and preparing to transport fresh supplies of fish across the world. Once an order is received, the catch is quickly processed and packed to the customer’s specifications at a quality- controlled facility and then dispatched on the first available flight. The entire process moves with lightening speed, guaranteeing delivery within a matter of hours. Capitalising on Iceland’s central location between North America and Europe, as well the country’s extensive network of international air links, Danica Seafood can offer daily service to the UK, mainland Europe and the US. This combination of reliable trans- portation, superior raw materials and the company’s commitment to excellence has translated into a steadily growing business. “The personal touch is something we value highly at Danica,” says Thomsen and adds, “We maintain close ties to our customers in order to meet their needs.” A testimony to his words is Danica’s many loyal clients on both sides of the North Atlantic.
