MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
ON RESPONSIBILITY AND
CO-OPERATION IN SEARCH AND
RESCUE MATTERS BETWEEN
THE ROYAL NORWEGIAN MINISTRY
OF JUSTICE AND THE POLICE
AND THE CIVIL AVIATION
ADMINISTRATION, AND THE
MARITIME AUTHORITY OF THE
KINGDOM OF DENMARK
CONCERNING AERONAUTICAL AND
MARITIME SAR SERVICES IN THE
NORTH SEA AND SKAGERRAK
The Royal Norwegian Ministry of Justice and
the Police
and
the Civil Aviation Administration, and the
Maritime Authority of the Kingdom of Den-
mark, hereinafter called the Participants, have in
accordance with Annex 12 to the Convention of
7 December 1944 on Intemational Civil Avi-
ation (Intemational Civil Aviation Organization
- ICAO) and the Provisional Maritime Search
and Rescue Plan for the North Sea drawn up by
the Intemational Maritime Organization (IMO)
in the form of paragraph 2.1.4 of Chapter 2 of the
Annex to the Intemational Convention on
Maritime Search and Rescue 1979 (the SAR
Convention) reached the following understand-
ing:
Section 1
(1) The Royal Norwegian Ministry of Justice
and the Police will be responsible for aeronaut-
ical Search and Rescue (SAR) services in the
Stavanger & Oslo Flight Information Region/
Upper Information Region (FIR/UIR) and in the
sea region within København FIR, as defíned in
paragraph (1) of the Annex to this Memorandum
of Understanding (MoU) and for the maritime
Search and Rescue (SAR) services in the sea re-
gion delineated in the Provisional Maritime
Search and Rescue Plan for the North Sea drawn
up by the IMO.
(2) The Civil Aviation Administration of the
Kingdom of Denmark will be responsible for
aeronautical SAR services in the sea region with-
in the København FIR and Oslo FIR/UIR, as de-
fined in paragraph (1) of the Annex to this MoU.

Det Kongelige norske Justitsministerium og
Politi
og
Statens Luftfartsvæsen og Søfartsstyrelsen i
Danmark (herefter kaldet aftaleparteme) har i
overensstemmelse med tillæg 12 til konvention
angáende intemational civil luftfart undertegnet
i Chicago den 7. december 1944 (herefter kaldet
Chicago-konventionen) og den foreløbige plan
for maritim eftersøgning og redning i Nordsøen
udarbejdet af Den intemationale Søfartsorgani-
sation (herefter kaldet IMO) i form af afsnit
2.1.4 i kapitel 2 i tillægget til Den intemationale
Konvention om Maritim Eftersøgning og Red-
ning af 1979 (herefter kaldet SAR-konventio-
nen), indgáet følgende aftale:
Paragraf 1
(1) Det Kongelige norske Justitsministerium
og Politi er ansvarlig for luftfartsmæssige efter-
søgnings- og redningstjenester (SAR-tjenester) i
Stavanger og Oslo fly veinformationsregion/øvre
informationsregion (herefter kaldet FIR/UIR) og
i det havomráde inden for København FIR, sá-
ledes som dette er defmeret i stk. 1 i tillægget til
dette aftalememorandum og for maritime efter-
søgnings- og redningstjenester (SAR-tjenester)
inden for det i den af IMO udarbejdede forelø-
bige plan for maritim eftersøgning og redning i
Nordsøen afgrænsede søterritorium.
(2) Statens Luftfartsvæsen i Danmark er an-
svarlig for luftfartsmæssige SAR-tjenester i hav-
omrádet inden for København FIR og Oslo FIR/
UIR, sáledes som dette er defmeret i stk. 1 i til-
lægget til dette aftalememorandum.
