SUMMER IN ICELAND:
SKS AROUND THE CLOCK
Framhald aí bls. 15.
Its Hekla factories produce
knits, sheepskin jackets, and
cats which are great bar-
gains.
For night life, there is
Sjálfstaedishusid, a large
night club with several bars,
bands, and a fine cuisine.
★
Summer skiers go to Ice
land’s interior, the site of a
summer ski camp conducted
by Valdimar Omolfsson, di-
rector of athletics at the Uni-
versity of Iceland in Reykja-
vik. The site is inaccessible
except in July and August.
Located midway between
two enormus ice fields, Hofs-
jokull and Langajokull, the
camp is a six- or seven-hour
ride from Reykjavik, Ice-
land’s capital. A $70 per week
rate includes the bus trip
from the capital, accommoda-
tions in bunks (visitors bring
their own sleeping bags),

SKRÝTLA
Bréf með eftirmála.
Pétur var nýtrúlofaður, og
skrifaði foreldrum sínum um
hamingju Sína.
Skömmu síðar fékk hann
svohljóðandi bréf:
Kæri sonur!
Móðir þín og ég fáum varla
lýst þeirri gleði, sem fréttin
af trúlofun þinni færði okk-
ur, því að góð kona er öllum
öðrum guðsgjöfum dýrmæt-
ari. Það vitum við mamma
þín bezt, við höfum búið sam-
an í ást og eindrægni yfir 25
ár. Já, — móðir þín hefir ver-
ið mér allt. Við vomnn að
hjónaband þitt verði eins
hamingjuríkt.
Þínir elskandi foreldrar.
P.S. Móðir þín skrapp út að
sækja frímerki á bréfið.
Hafðu ráð mitt og hegðaðu
þér ekki eins og asni. Giftu
þig aldrei!
Þinn þrautpíndi faðir.

TAKEUS
FOR
GRANTED
We take a lot of things for granted in this world of
ours. Things that are so much a part of everyday life that we don’t
really think about them until they’re suddenly not there. Then
we realize just how important they are.
Take electricity for example. It’s always
there when we want it. We don’t stop
to think about what electricity means to us. It means a warm house in the moming, it
means a comforting light on a darkened street, it means hot toast and bacon and eggs
right off the griddle, it means music, entertainment and a Iot less work when things have
to be done. And even during those rare occasions when something stops the electricity
from getting to us, to feed us and warm us, and light our way, we still take it for granted.
Ifll be back on in a few minutes. Back on because hard working dedicated men put all
their efforts into making sure that you can go on ... taking us for granted.
