THE COOPERATTVE MOVEMENT HAS
PLAYED A LEADING PART IN IHE
DEVELOPMENT OF MODERN ICELAND
KEA the Co-operative Society in Eyjafjördur
in North lceland was established in 1886 and
was a pioneer in most sections of employ-
ment in lceland.
KEA leads in processing agricultural products,
also in many manufacturing industries, re-
tailing and export/import business as well.
When you visit Akureyri be comfortable in
the Hotel KEA in the heart of the town.
If you should need anything you will be sure
to find it in the nearest KEA branch.
AKUREYRI ICELAND
In February, 1899, the first Ice-
landic settlers arrived at Brown,
Manitoba to begin working on
their chosen lands.
The first Icelandic settlers to or-
rive in Grunnavatnsbyggð, the
area around Lundar, Manitoba,
came in the spring of 1887.
In the early 1900’s a group of
Icelandic families attempted a
settlement on Hunter Island, at
the northwest boundary of Fitz
Hugh Sound in British Colum-
bia. But the location was poor,
and by 1930, all of the settlers
had left.

a stopover in Iceland?
Puffíns think thal is
amightygooddeal.
Now you can take advantage of our $12 a day stopover tours
of Iceland while you’re taking advantage of our low APEX fare
from Chicago or New York to Great Britain or Scandinavia. And
$12 is a small price to pay to visit one of the most interesting
countries in the world.
- Iceland is a land of volcanoes, Viking museums, glaciers,
geysers, concerts, art shows, duty-free shopping and hot-spring
pools. And it’s all yours for 1 to 3 days for just $12 a day.
That price includes room with bath/shower at the first class
Hotel Loftleidir, transfers between hotel and airport, sightseeing
trips and two meals daily.
So on your next trip to Norway, Sweden, Denmark or Great
Britain, why not stop over in Iceland for a few days? Puffins
highly recommend that you do so. And Puffins are never wrong.
For further information see your travel agent or contact
Icelandic Airlines, P.O. Box 105, West Hempstead, NY 11552.
