The basic calendar of AM 249p=A, with the single exception of
30/12, Dauid regis, is purely liturgical, suggesting a close association
with the episcopal See of Skålholt, again close to the Archsee of
Nidaros. It shares with the ON and the Nidaros books the rubrics
concerning the anticipation of the lesser feasts which fali on the same
day as the high-graded ones, e.g. the bringing forward of the feast of
Felicis pp. soc. 29/7, directed to be celebrated 28/7 (hic cantetur de
martiribus), leaving 29/7 free for the high-graded feast of St. Olav.
The calendar AM 249e = B also comes close to being liturgical; the
entry of 25/1 Prothi Iacincti is probably a misunderstanding of Proiecti
(Preiecti) m. of the Nidaros calendar (while 26/7 Iacincti of the
calendar AM 249f=F is the Roman martyr invented by Ado,
commemorated on this day in some German dioceses).
The great many martyrological entries of the calendars AM
249d = C, and AM 249f = F need not detain us here. They stem from
older calendars, reminiscent of those of Bremen and Lund, and most of
them occur in the older calendars of the Scandinavian dioceses; some
of them also appear in the calendars of their printed liturgical books c.
