There are some faults of transcription and also some deplacements.
12/1 Saturnini m. may be a misunderstanding of Usuard’s Satyri
(Saturi) m. It is interesting that a Strångnås calendar c. 1350 has
Satumi m. (see KLNM 8, p. 111).
24/1 Basilii ep. may stand for Babille ep.
4/2 Euentani ep. remains unidentified. Usuard has Auentini ep.
cf., of Troyes.
11/2 Castrensis ep., and 5/3 Foce ep. are qualified as holy virgins.
20/2 Eucharii pb. and 21/2 Eucharii ep. probably both relate to the
bishop of Orléans who died in exile in the monastery of St. Trond in
Tongres in 738, and who is commemorated on 20 February, as in
Cologne.
1/3 Ceadde ep. is commemorated on 2 March in all the English
calendars.
13/4 Wilfridi cf. seems to be a fancy date; Wilfrid I of York (t c.
710) was translated on 24 April, Wilfrid II (t 744) on 29 April.
19/4 Paterni m. remains unidentified.
27/10 Amandi cf. could relate to Amandus, founder of Elnone and
bishop of Maestricht, as a rule celebrated together with Vedastus of
Saint-Vaast, Arras. Ado enters both saints on 26 October, Usuard on
6 February. According to the Auctaria, in Elnone St. Amand was also
celebrated on 27 October (PL 124, p. 628). The entry could also
relate to the German bishop Amandus of the Hieronymian Martyro-
logy, widely celebrated in Germany (see Grotefend), but his day was
also 26 October.
The main source of our calendar was a German martyrological
calendar, chiefly based on Usuard’s Martyrology. Besides, the Marty-
rology of Rabanus Maurus accounts for the greater part of entries not
found in Usuard, both as regards entries derived from the Hieronymian
Martyrology, as 3/3 Felicis m. and 28/3 Rogati m., and typically
German entries, as 6/3 Quiriaci pb., of Trier, and 21/6 Albani m.
Some of the feasts introduced in post-Usuardian time are too
widespread to be useful for a localization of our calendar.
7/2 Helenq reginq commemorates her translation to the Benedictine
monastery of Hautvillers, diocese of Reims, in 849; in German
calendars she is usually entered on February 8.
26/3 Luidgeri ep., of Munster, and 3/9 Remacli ep., of Stablo-
Utrecht, were celebrated all over northem Germany; 6/9 Magni abb.,
