SE-Iceland; Reyðarfjörður, Eskifjörður, Búðir and Egils-
staðir, Suður-Múlasýsla, E-Iceland; Vopnafjörður, Val-
þjófsstaðir and several other neighbouring farms, Hof-
teigur, Skjöldólfsstaðir, Seyðisfjörður and Stakkahlíð, all
localities in Norður-Múlasýsla, E-Iceland. In several of
these localities the species had probably grown for several
years when discovered, for example at Skjöldólfsstaðir,
where formerly travellers used to stop. In the summers
of 1959 and 1960 I found the species at Patreksfjörður
and Sellátur, Barðastrandarsýsla, NW-Iceland; Þingeyri,
Flateyri and Reykjanes (the school), Isafjarðarsýsla, NW-
Iceland; Tröllatunga and Hólmavík, Strandasýsla, NW-
Iceland; Búðir, Stakkhamar, Tröð, Glaumbær, Neðri-Hóll,
Tunga, Miklahraun, Hömluholt, Hrútsholt, Hvítárnes,
Flesjustaðir, Barðastaðir, Furubrekka, Stykkishólmur and
Brúarhraun, all localities in Snæfellsnessýsla and Hnappa-
dalssýsla, W-Iceland. The species appears here to be most
common on farms close to the sea, perhaps indicating
that it is introduced with goods distributed by boats. Vest-
mannaeyjar, S-Iceland; Hólar, Skriða, Fornhagi and seve-
ral neighbouring farms, Dalvík and Hrísey, all in Eyja-
fjarðarsýsla, N-Iceland; Svalbarðsströnd, Áshóll and Lauf-
ás, Suður-Þingeyjarsýsla, N-Iceland; Hrafnhóll (abun-
dant), Varmahlíð and Sauðárkrókur, Skagafjarðarsýsla,
N-Iceland; Blönduós, Brekka (abundant), Fagranes, For-
sæludalur (abundant, has certainly grown here for a long
time), Breiðabólstaður, Haukagil, Syðri-Kárastaðir, Gröf
and Hvammstangi, all in Húnavatnssýsla, N-Iceland. In
1962 the species was found near an angler’s cottage at
Langavatnsdalur, Mýrasýsla, W-Iceland, and in 1965 it
was recorded from Húsavík, N-Iceland, where it had just
recently arrived.
This shows that the species has now established itself
in all part of the lowlands. However, it is much more fre-
quently found in the southem regions, and here there is
also more of it at any one place. The species flowers from
July to September and produces seeds every year in all
parts of the country, but to the greatest extent, however,
