The Thirty-fourth Annual Convention of
The Lutheran Women's League
of Manitoba
The Thirty-fourth convention of the Lutheran Women’s
League of Manitoba was held at Sunrise Lutheran Camp,
Husavick, Manitoba June 20-22, 1958 .
The convention was opened with a Communion service
conducted by Pastor J. Fullmer of the Gimli Parish.
The President, Miss Ingibjörg Bjarnason, Winnipeg
called the meeting to order and welcomed the officers, dele-
gates and visitors.
The names of members whose death had occurred dur-
ing this past year were read. After a silent tribute to their
memory the Lord’s Prayer was read in unison.
The following presented reports: President, Secretary,
Treasurer, Delegates from the 25 member organizations,
Ardis Financial, Manitoba Temperance Alliance, Sunday
School committee, Library, Camp Directors and Camp
Treasurer.
The evenings were devoted to entertainment—childrens’
choirs, vocal and instrumental selections by the Gimli Parish
young people.
The film on Royal Doulton figurines was interesting-
It was very enjoyable to hear the little children sing Ice-
Iandic words to their songs. Miss Edith Radley’s address on
Angola Mission in Africa and slides were enjoyed, particu-
larly the manner in which she imposed the little children
into dramatizing events and language . . • this must have
made an impression on the children, one they will long
remember.
Sister Laufey Olson’s address “Diaconate” was very in-
formative. Miss Laura Johnson’s slides on her trip to Europe
last summer were enjoyed.
A number of the delegates to the convention had not
visited the Camp at any time, so a tour of the Camp was
quite a revelation to them. The weather was sunny, the
