Song of Spring
The breeze breathes - love and joy is in the air
And sweet aroma greets one everywhere ;
My heart throbs music and my soul doth sing
In 'welcome of the queen of beauty
- Spring !
The birds give concerts and I listen to
Their voices full of praise serene and true ;
They flatter not ~ they know of what they sing,-
They love the queen of nature's music
- Spring !
The trees which are not ever, ever green,
Whose leaves have died, whose tints have
withered been
Are clothed afresh in colour-praise they sing
Of the pretty queen of charming verdure
- Spring !
Sweet roses are now coming into bloom
Again they suffered death by winter's doom -
They're nursed and fondled and in joy they sing
Of the fair and lovely queen of flowers
- Spring !
The man whose faults did make unfortunate,
Whose life is dark, whose heart is desolate,
Whose soul doth ache from many a painful sting
Kneels at the feet of the queen of pity
- Spring !
