ANTHONY FAULKES
82 Margbreitinn: ... þegar hann var þroskadur. — So 1407, but AM 61 and 19
liave nölckut þroskaðr and 11,125 has mikið þroskaðr. This reading, and that
under Lokatur imply perhaps that Lbs 1407 is more closely related to Magn-
ús’ MS than the other two, but the evidence is hardly sufficient to provide
certainty on this point.
All the paper MSS of this saga have not yet been examined in de-
tail, and it may be that there is yet another MS even closer to SLR in
existence, but it is probable that the actual one used by Magnús is
now lost.
The following is a complete list of all the quotations in SLR from
this saga, which gives the page numbers of ÓTM I—II on which they
occur:4 9
DG 55 Gyn: Hakon Adalst: gein yfer
hodduna. — I 35:9—10: “kon-
ungr ... bra h'n duk um hpdduna
ok gein yfir.” This quotation is in
DG 55, but was omitted from
SLR.
51 Hardradur: Helgi hiet a Þor til
hardrada (I 275:5). — This pas-
sage is also found in Landnáma-
bók (1900), 73:5 and 271:12.
141 Vissa: Enn þeir geingu ad sofa
... vijsbending þeim Ottare (I
338: 13—14).
*96 Ojlœte: Dötter þeirra hiet Kol-
finna ... oflate mikill (I 339:10).
82 Margbreitinn: Hallfredur þotte
helldur margbreitinn ... þroskad-
ur (I 339:21—22).
91 Nijdskaar: Hallfredur var skalld

16 Bidil: Halfrdr mælti þad rad skal

13 Bagradur: Hallfredur sagdi at
hann vill ... ma um mæla (I 343:
19—20).
2 Ajberast: Ottar vil skipa til ...
liiti afberast (I 343:22).
9 Astrad: Sie eg astrad yckar vid
mig (I 344:13).
84 Meij: Allar vildu meyar ... i efra
göine (I 344:21—345:4, v.).
*82 Mansongur: Ingulfur tok ad yrkia
... Valgerde Ottars dottur (I 345:
14—15).
124 Svórdur: Færum festar vorar ...
atkieris frackie (I 348:16-19, v.).
14 Beiskur: Urdu Þrændir vid þad
beisker (I 378:1).
DG 55 ad afhenda sier nokurn: Ei
mun eg giorast þier handgeinginn
_______reker mier fra þier (I 387:18
—23).
40 The four which are lacking in DG 55 were probably omitted accidentally,
as there is no evidence to show that they were not present in the original glos-
sary. See above p. 36.
