skilyrði og e. t. v. með mismun-
andi aðferðum.

S u m m a r y.
After a brief historical re-
view of the methods of blood
pressure examinations, the re-
sults of blood pressure read-
ings on 1207 males and 1336
females living in Reykjavík are
discussed.
These examinations formcd
part of a general medical ex-
amination of people entering
the sick insurance system. In
eacli instance only one reading
of the blood pressure was
made.
The average values for the
systolie and diastolic pressure
according to age groups and
sex are shown in the tables.
Table I refers to the whole
material.
