The average distance of ice edge from Straum-
nes 80 miles, the nearest approach about 50
miles.
s/3 Ice pack 6900/2100 to 6635/2700.
30/3 Ice pack 6900/2100 to 6800/2500 to
6700/2700 to 6700/3030. Ice flow extends south
of pack in 20 to 40 mile „peninsulas“ and islets.
3°/3 Ice flow encountered at 6740/2030.
Very loose scattered „ridge“ of ice 6600/3230
to 6510/3600 to 6500/3900.
APRIL.
The average distance of the ice edge frotn
Straumnes 60 miles, the nearest approach of ics
about 40 miles.
1/4 Ice flow 6955/1400 - 6825/1830 (all
loose ice). Ice pack 6840/2200 to 6745/2530.
4/4 Ice flow extends from 6900/1830 to
6900/2000 generally SW to 6830/2210 to 6630/-
2620 to 6630/2900.
1/4 Ice pack 6743/1958. Ice flow widely dis-
persed. Flowing ice with patches of congested
ice flow. Solid ice with a few breaks 6843/1958
6728/2625. Many straddling blocks south of
this point. 6645/2645 end of ice flow.
11/4 Ice pack 6830/2000 to 6800/2300 to
6700/2900 to 6500/3200.
13/4 Ice pack 6700/2130 to 6615/2700, thence
W and NW. Break ab. 15 mile wide running
E—W between 6645 and 6700 N.
15/4 Ice pack 6743/1952.

The average distance of ice edge from Straum-
nes 85 miles, the nearest approach of ice 22 miles
(open patches of ice).

6748/2212 to 6800/2200 3/io to e/io covered by
small ice floes. Thence 8/io to 8/10 covered bv
big floes to 6930 N. Open water betveen Cape
Brewster and Cape Tobin and ice cover only
about 5/io off the mouth of Scoresbysund to-
wards SE. Ab. 3 mile broad solid winter ice
along the Liverpool coast but broken, big ice
floes off shore as far as could be seen towards
E. (With TF—ISE from Reykjavík to Danmarks-
havn. — J. Ey).
JUNE.
The average distance of ice edge from Straum-
nes 25 miles, shortest 15—20 miles.
