Jóhannsson (pers. comm.). It was then only a question of rather narrow crevasses. Aug. 6 that summer the present writer viewed the entire rnargin of Sídujökull from the air and found it a typical smooth recession margin, showing no signs of advance. About the middle of September some members of the Iceland Glaciological Society, led by G. Gud- mundsson, visited Pálsfjall and found that the crevassing W and N of that nunatak had in- creased a lot since observed by M. Jóhannsson.
