NOTES
18518 orderetur: Thus the manuscript; probably a copying
error for the videretur that is found in Crymogæa, II 11i8~9.
18712 12 annorum: The manuscript of Egils saga AM 453
4to has 13 (Egils saga, variant to p. 18315) ; if this reading was
in the lost vellum from which this manuscript was copied (AM
162 A fol. s is a fragment of that vellum), then it cannot have
been the source used by AJ.
I902S marg. The note on the regulations for hålmganga is
repeated in a fuller form in Crymogæa (II 89®“27), see note ad
loc. It is most probably based on Kormåks saga, not on Egils
saga.
1911 Aremnodus: This peculiar form must be due to AJ, be-
cause it is repeated in Crymogæa (II 11626). AJ seems to have
confused the names ArnfiSr (Armon in the Wolfenbuttel-vellum,
see Egils saga p. 25618) and ÅrmoSr (skegg).
I9i21-i928 See Fms. I 22-4, 29; cf. Flat. I 50-51, 53;
Hkr. I 169-72. Flat. cannot have been AJ’s source, since it has
ASalråSr for ASalsteinn (I 50) and fmSjungr where AJ has
qvinta pars (I 19131 = fimmtungr Fms. I 23, Hkr. I 170, Egils
saga 157). Probably the Fms.-text was AJ’s source (AM 53 fol.,
see above, ch. III no. 3).
19128 Ragnhildam Arnfinno . . elocavit: All sources join in
placing this after Eirikr’s fali, when Gunnhildr was on the way
to Denmark.
I9210-i9621 See Fms. I 26-47; cf. Flat. I 49-62; Hkr. I 174-
218. The source was probably AM 53 fol., cf. AJ’s reading I
19433 “in insula Freida” = Fms. I 39 “i ey Joeirri er FreiSa
(freiSa AM 53 fol.) hét”, where Flat. I 58 has “Froda”, Hkr.
I 201 “FræSi”.
1931-2 male in Danico Truedjerll: The correct reading is
Trued Iarl (NKK 33r) ; perhaps an error in our copy.
1944 Hallandiam: Hallands Fms. I 26, Hkr. I 175; Haloga-
landz Flat. I 52.
19621 Anno Ch. 960: Thus Gottskålksannåll and Flateyjar-
annall after AJ’s correction (originally 961) ; most of the other
annals have 961.
i9629-i9727 See Fms. I 59-60, 64, 66, 89; cf. Flat. I 66-7,
69, 70, 85. The source was the Fms.-text (AM 53 fol.), cf. AJ’s
