the mention of the 10 ships whlch is only found in Hkr., not in
Fsk. 365). The second genealogy is based without doubt on Hkr.
(III 290) and not on Fsk., as may be clearly seen from numerous
parallels in names (e.g. “Kanuti, filij Erici Suenonis dicti boni”
= “sonr Eiriks goSa . . . sonar Sveins tJlfssonar” (Sv. sonar the
Gullinskinna-copy AM 42 fol.) Hkr.; “broSir Eiriks eimuna”
Fsk.—Saurkwardi = Sørkvir Hkr., Sværkir Fsk.—The reading
“Kristina, Ingonis Suecorum regis neptis ex filia” shows that the
source was Gullinskinna. For in the Gullinskinna-copy AM 42
fol., fol. 24r, we find “Kristin d. dotter Inga” (d. undoubtedly
signifies ‘drottning’, the reading in Jofraskinna, but has here
been misunderstood as ‘dottur-’). Storm first called attention to
this point (see Storm, Sigurd Ranesøns Proces, 1877, pp. 45—6;
cf. Isl. fornrit XXVIII, p. xc). Another reading which also
agrees with AM 42 fol. is “Ingiborga uxor Kanuti” (cf. Hkr.
III 2907’9), where AM 42 fol. has Ingibiorg and Ingibiargar,
while Kringla and AM 39 fol. have Ingil-. Further, AM 42 fol.
has MalfriSar corresponding to Hkr. III 2902 Malm- (but
Malmf. corresponding to Hkr. III 2905’7). Finally, AM 42 fol.
writes Saurkvis and Saurkvir corresponding to Hkr. III 29012-13.
The third genealogy is derived from Hkr. III 371; it is not in
Fsk.—The reading Ingiborga, uxor Ormeri excludes Cod. Fri-
sianus as a possible source, since it has the correct Sigrfår; all
the other extant Hkr.-manuscripts (including AM 42 fol.) have
Ingibjprg; the reading Ragna excludes Eirspennill, which has
Ragnhilldr (19622-23). Ingo, the first name in the genealogy, is
a mistake, caused by the mention of King Ingi immediately after
the genealogy in Hkr.
No. 7. Haraldr gilli’s descendants. The family-tree in a scribe’s
hånd; the note at the end in Vedel’s hånd.—The genealogy is
based on Hkr. III 379—80 (not in Fsk.). The reading Ingonis
Halsteni excludes Eirspennill as a possible source, because it
reads Håsteins syni (20026). The reading Birgrida agrees better
with Gullinskinna (AM 42 fol., fol. 48r, has BirgiSa) than with
the other Hkr.-manuscripts, which have BrigiSa. The final note
on the other hånd comes from Fsk. (A) 301 (not in Hkr.).
