19 (a list of the farms is found in Davíðsson, 1961a). At all of these farms the species has spread out from gardens, and in some places obviously a considerable time ago. 3. Myosotis palustris (engjamunablóm) (fig. 3). The following statement on this species is found in Stefánsson (1948) (translated from the Icelandic): “Very rare: Arngerðareyrarháls, NW-Iceland. Near hot springs in Reykjadalur, Keldunes and near Litlá in Kelduhverfi, N-Iceland. Seyðisfjörður, E-Iceland. In many places cul- tivated in gardens and not infrequently spread out from these.” Skriðuland in Aðaldalur, N-Iceland, 1936. In 1950 I found the plant growing in Neskaupstaður and Seyðis- fjörður, E-Iceland. In summer 1960 I noted this species growing outside gardens at 12 farms in Húnavatnssýsla and Skagaf jarðarsýsla, both N-Iceland (list of farms in Da- víðsson, 1961a). Ingimar Óskarsson had previously (1957) recorded it from a single farm in Skagafjarðarsýsla (Hraun in Fljót). In Reykjavík and surroundings, SW-Iceland, the species has for a long time been found growing outside gardens, especially on the edges of ditches. In 1960 it was recorded from Laugarvatn, Árnessýsla, S-Iceland, where it was spreading. In 1961 it was found at Deildartunga and Reykholt, Borgarfjarðarsýsla, W-Iceland, and in 1962 I found the species growing at Isafjörður (the city), NW- Iceland, Akureyri, N-Iceland, and in geothermal soil near Bláhvammur, Norður-Þingeyjarsýsla, NE-Iceland. In 1963 Guðbrandur Magnússon recorded it from Siglufjörður, N- Iceland. In 1964 I found the species growing in a slow flowing stream below the deserted farm of Fjall in Kol- beinsdalur, Skagafjarðarsýsla, N-Iceland. It was growing amongst Carex Lyngbyei, Hippuris vulgaris, Menyanthes trifoliata, Equisetum fluviatilis and other water plants, and appeared to florish. Haganesvík in Fljót, N-Iceland, 1965. Both here and in several other localities it seems to become completely established.
