ICELANDIC CONNECTION
7
American readers but of all those who
love things Icelandic, wherever they hap-
pen to live in the world. The Icelandic
National League of North America stands
out as a noble example of how we have
been aware for decades that our cherished
ancestral identity transcends the national
boundary between Canada and the United
States.
Moreover, our natural constituency is
even larger than our immediate North
American context. The reality is that we
now have subscribers throughout the
English-speaking world, as well as resi-
dents of Iceland who find our magazine to
be a welcome addition to the Icelandic-
language periodicals they read at home.
In addition, there is a growing number of
people without any Icelandic background
at all who nevertheless love things
Icelandic and are curious about how the
Icelandic heritage has come to be adapted
and expressed here in North America and,
indeed, in other places around the globe.
So while our name has changed to be
more broadly inclusive and to represent a
more expansive identity, our essential
mission remains the same—to make the
things of value in our Icelandic heritage a
living part of ourselves and to connect
people of Icelandic ancestry and their
friends by helping them to become better
acquainted. These are the Icelandic con-
nections we seek!
