SYNOPSIS OF SCENES
The action of the play passes in the kitchen of a farmhouse in rural Saskatchewan dur-
ing the summer at the present time.
The male voice has a friendly local inflection characteristic
of the Saskatchewan twang.
Ingi is 68 years old. He has a rather slow and authoritative
manner of speaking, sometimes abrupt, but always caring.
He is cautious and protective. His countenance is warm
with an engaging smile. He is a heavyset man who wears
a beard. He has lived on the farm all of his life within a few
miles of a small town.
Borga is Ingi’s twin sister. She has a sweet manner and her
clear soft-spoken voice is pleasant and appealing. She is naive
and talkative. She receives comfort from her faith. Her long
hair is in two braids that are tied on top of her head. She was
also raised on the farm and has lived there all her life.
The Intruder is in his late teens. He is coarse and speaks
loudly at times with occasional abusive language. Because of
his inexperience, he exhibits some nervousness. He is thin and
needs a haircut and a shave.
Stefan has a mature voice. He has a cheery personality and
indicates a genuine concern for Vilborg and Ingolfur. He lives
in the small town nearby where he is the pastor of a church.
