and completing the circuit linking
Gloucester with Eyrarbakki. The re-
mote connection with the Icelandic
community has been restored, and Ken
is now planning a trip to Iceland in the
near future.
By way of a postscript to this
incident, readers might also be inter-
ested in knowing the outcome of
my last discovery. Following the
publication of my article on the
mysterious Icelandic trunk, a reader
of L-H in the Baldur area notified a
cousin in Winnipeg, Norma Ragg,
who is a granddaughter of the trunk’s
original owner, Brynjólfur Björgólfsson.
Mrs. Ragg, in turn, made contact and
provided information on her grand-
parents and their family. Another
reader, Valdine Johnson of Win-
nipeg, generously donated a ‘koffort’
dated 1854,which is said to have been
the book-trunk of the Rev. Jón
Bjamason, the first minister to serve
the pioneers of this part of New Ice-
land.
