that rules are made for a purpose and should not be broken. She
must teach the importance of co-operation and harmony in a group
by practicing these herself. The most important thing for a leader
is to realize her position at camp. She is there to guide and watch
over the children during their stay. This idea must be ever present
and at all times the children must come first.
The most impressive part of all my visits to Sunrise Camp was
the ever-present feeling of the nearness of God. One cannot help
but realize His presence at all times. The beauties of nature sur-
round us to such an extent that we cannot help but be mindful of
its Creator. We cannot help but be thankful for the crisp, fresh air,
the warm sunshine, green grass, tall trees and lovely lake breeze,
because these form such a large part of our camp life.
We are also reminded by our worship at the Outdoor Altar.
Have you ever attended a Sunrise Service at Sunrise Camp? Believe
me, it is something that you will never forget. I know you will be
welcomed by any group during this next camping season.
Our daily devotional and lesson periods help us to know more
about God and His works. The loveliest of all is the singing of taps
each evening under the stars with a soft gentle lake breeze blowing.
The campers join hands, sing this simple but meaningful song and
close their day with the Lord’s Prayer. Words cannot describe the
wonderful feeling which is a result of these few moments of
devotion.
Once again I would like to thank you for the wonderful oppor-
tunity of speaking to you tonight. This is particularly appreciated
as I will no longer be able to participate in the summer activities,
unless I am able at some future date to return for a period as camp
nurse. Believe me, I would like nothing better.

There is one thing I would like to do in closing. I believe that
I am the first camper who has ever had the opportunity of address-
ing your convention on camp life. In the years that I have enjoyed
the privileges of Sunrise Camp, there has always been in attendance
a lady who made camp life complete, always ready with words of
encouragement, never hesitant in making important decisions, al-
ways setting the perfect camper’s example, a true and wonderful
inspiration at all times. Mrs. Olafson, may I ask you to come for-
ward please.
