Carolina Baldwin
1893 — 1964
Lena, as she was known to her family and friends was born in
Winnipeg, Oct. 24, 1893. Her parents Carl and Katrin Goodman
were one of our highly respected industrious pioneers and the
family members of the First Lutheran Church.
In 1915 Lena married Baldwin Baldwin formerly from the
Argyle district. Five children were born to them, four of whom
mourn the passing of their devoted parents—they are Bernice,
Mrs. Parks and Irma, Mrs. Clements, both of Ottawa. Raymond of
Edmonton and Howard of London, Ont., as well as ten grand-
children; also Lena’s sisters, Mrs. Bowley and Mrs. Wright of
Winnipeg.
Lena died in Winnipeg, June 27, 1964, with burial service
from the First Lutheran Church, Dr. Eylands officiating.
Generous hospitality, sincere loyal friendship and constant
loving care of family were ever present with the Baldwins and so,
many treasured memories remain.
From 1938 to 1955 the family made their home in Saskatoon.
Following her husband’s death in 1955, Lena was a very welcome
guest with her family, the latter years with Irma in Winnipeg and
Ottawa.
The following passage from Proverbs 31. V.28 and 31 seems
to be a fitting tribute to our dear Lena:
“Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also
and he praiseth her.
Give her of the fruit of her lands; and let her own works praise
her in the gates.”
