18/s Ice flow 6730/2000. Ice pack 6630/2400
- 6610/2440 to 6600/2600.
s/g Extended drift ice field 30 miles off the
NW-coast. Border of ice from W—E.
6/r A close ice field extending W—E 15 miles
NNW of Deild (66.2N/23.5W). S/T Elliðaey.
5/e Position 6636/2412: Much drift ice
within sight.
JULY.
13/i Open drift ice from 6800/2230 to
7000/2230. Big ice floes with many leads and
broken drift ice in between off the Liverpool
Coast. Ice edge ab. 7000/1900 to 7245/1600.
(TF—ISE en route Reykjavík — Mestersvig).
AUGUST.
26/8 0600 z. A big growler was sighted ca. 3
miles NE of Cape Straumnes. (M/S Heiðrún).
26/8 1325 z. A growler sighted 2.5 miles
N 25° E from Kögur. (D/S Þyrill).
27/8 Ice pack is concentrated in the area
of 6707/3300 —6620/3500. Ice floes extend
50 miles off the coast of Greenland, and
scatterd ice has been reported as far out as 70
miles. — An iceberg is reported at 6625/2313,
moving at a speed of appr. 1 knot, and an ice
floe at 6630/2305.
2S/a The main ice flow containing numerous
icebergs and extending 100 miles out to sea was
located between Kap Hodgson (appr. 7000/2135)
and Kap Beaupre (6850/2500). From Kap
Beaupre south to Kap Edvard Holm (appr.
6650/3000) the ice flow extends some 50 miles
out to sea and contains icebergs, estimated
100 every 15—20 miles.
Icebergs have been sighted as follows: On 29
August at 1625 z one 200' (feet) high and 300'
wide at 6655/2404; on 30 August between 1042
and 1640 z concentrated icebergs within a 50
mile radius of 6806/2330 with a large ice floe
one mile S; on'31 August at 1755 z one ice floe at
6718/2200.
SEPTEMBER.
2/g An iceberg was sighted at 6657/2135.
4/g An iceberg sighted 35 miles N15E off
Hornbjarg.
6/9 At 1217 z concentrated icebergs (150
feet high 100—200 feet wide) were observed at
6854/2231. At 1340 z an icepack appr. 3 miles
wide, 12 miles long and 25 feet high was seen at
6810/2620. On the same date scattered icebergs
were sighted from Kap Brewster (7010/2202) to
Kap Gustav Holm (6635/3400) extending 70
miles out to sea from the Greenland Coast.
11 /g At 1725 z an iceberg sighted at
6700/2015.
12/a A survey of ice along the Geenland
Coast showed scattered icebergs out to 50 miles
offshore at 6912/2250 and thinly scattered ice-
bergs out to 80 miles offshore at 6755/2704.
13/9 At 1643 z an iceberg (50—60 feet high,
100x50 wide) was sighted at 6700/2230.
24/9 Warning of ice[berg] 14 miles E by S of
Hornbjarg at 1700 z. (S/T Northern Prince).
25 / 9 At 1400 z a ice floe is sighted in the
sailing route 12 miles ESE of Hornbjarg. — On
the same date scattered ice was observed ex-
tending out 80 miles from the Coast of Green-
land between Kap Brewster (70° 08' N) and Kap
