52 In the groups 29-56 R. shows a strong preponderance over against V. Gl.; R. 177 periods, or 41%, V.Gl. 158 or 20.5%. Again, in the last groups, 57 and more syllables: R. 36 periods, or 8%, V. Gl. 16 periods, or 2%. A comparison between R. ch. 26 and V. Gl. 13-16 does not on the whole yield striking results; this is not to be wondered at, as will be seen later. A tendency for longer periods however should be noted: periods of 38 or more syllables occur in R.: 8, in V.Gl. 3, 15% and 2% re- spectively. The graphic drawings indicate the percentages of periods falling under 5 syllable-groups each.
