Cap 2—3 cm broad, campanulate-convex, then expanding and somewhat umbonate, hygrophanous, when moist rufous-brown, when dry clay with a rubescent tinge, the umbo yellowish-brown, but long retaining a small, light red-greyish marginal zone. Stipe c. 7 cm X 2 /a—4 mm, pale clay-brownish rubescent, pruinate above. Gills slightly adnate, moderately broad, somewhat fleshcoloured when young, becoming more brown with edge and at last almost black. Spores broadly limoniform, 14—18 X 10—11 /(, impellucid, blackish.
