Before you listen
You are going to listen to a song by Axelle Red, often considered as the queen of French soul even if she is
Belgian and Dutch speaking, born in Limburg, (a Dutchspeaking province in the northeast of Belgium),
but mostly singing in French. Before starting in the showbiz she graduated as a lawyer.
Her most famous songs: “Kennedy Boulevard” (1989), “Sensualité” (1993), “A quoi ça sert” (1996), Very popular in France she opened the 1998 World Cup in duo with Youssou N’Dour, singing “La Cour
des Grands”.
She also sang “Manhattan Kaboul”, together with French singer Renaud, after the 9/11 event, and the
song remained number one in the charts for quite a while.
She currently is a Unicef ambassador.
Her song “I had a dream” was also produced in French under the title “J’ai fait un rêve “.
