V. —Ársdís: Mrs. Finnur Johnson, as business manager of the
paper, gave a full report of yearly finances. Stating that the books
showed a surplus of <$2(57.31. At her request a committee was
named to decide whether anv changes would be made in the printing
of the paper.—Meeting adjourned.
Fourth Meeting: Social meeting according to printed pro-
gramme.
Fiflh Meeting: Reading and prayer rendered by Mrs. B. A.
Bjarnason. Auditors report showed a surplus of <$83.99 on the books
of the League.
VI. —Handicraft Exhibits: It was decided to continue these
exhibits with the same arrangements as before.
VII. —Temperance: Introduced by Mrs. A. S. Bardal; general
discussions showed keen interest. A committee was named to bring
suggestions to the meeting.
V.—Árdis: Suggestions inade by this committee are as follows:
1. A \ote of appreciation to the editors, Mrs. S. Olafsson and
Mrs. O. Stephensen, for exceptionally good work .
2. Another vote of appreciation to Mrs. Finnur Johnson, for
her untiring efforts, and accomplishments for the wclfare of the
]japer.
3. That the paper be published in like form as in previous years.
4. That the ereed of the convention be printed in the next
copy of Árdís.
5. That the committee find no reason to make any changes in
the printing of the paper. This was carried unanimously.
At the request of Mrs. (i. F. Jonasson it was decided to print the
minutes of the convention in English in Árdis.
VIII. —Peace: After some discussions the following motion was
carried: Women assembled at the 14th Convention of the Lutheran
Women’s League hereby pledge their efforts to promote peace
individually and internationally.
IX. -New Business. (a) Care and Upkeep of Cemetaries: Women
told of the work done in their communities to create interest in thc
beautifying of our cemetaries. The following motion was carried:
“The convention asks the delegates, each in her home community,
to arouse interest in this work.”
It was decided to write to members who, through illness were
absent^ also a letter of condolence lo Mrs. B. B. Jónsson of Winni-
jieg. — Meeting adjourned.
