Anna Paulson
Born September 2, 1874 — Died April 30, 1936

two women, who for many years,
gave freely of their time and talent
in the service of the choir of the
First Lutheran Church, Winnipeg,
as soprano soloists: Anna Kristin
Paulson, Mrs. W. H. Paulson;
Sigridur Anna Hall, Mrs. S. K.
Hall.
Anna Paulson was born Septem-
ber 2nd, 1874 at Seydisfjord, Ice-
land, the daughter of Nikolas Jons-
son, half brother to Dr. Jon Bjar-
nason, and his wife Thorunn
Pjetursdottir, sister of Rev. Bjorn
Pjeturson.
The family emigrated to America
in 1883, residing for the first year
at Mountain, N. Dak. Then Nikolas acquired a homestead at Hall-
son, N.D., and here the family lived for many years. There Anna
attended school obtaining a teacher’s certificate and also consider-
able training in piano playing. She was the possessor of a good
singing voice and to further her musical studies came to Winnipeg,
making her home with her sister and her brother-in-law, W. H.
Paulson, until Jonina’s untimely death in 1894.
In 1898 Anna married Wilhelm H. Paulson. They lived in Win-
nipeg until 1908, when they moved to Leslie, Sask., where Mr.
Paulson was later elected to the Provincial Legislature.
In their most hospitable home Anna was a loved and loving
wife and mother to her sister’s three daughters, Thora Albert, now
of San Francisco, Margaret Thorvaldson, Saskatoon, and Hilda, who
died in her teens, and her own two, Jonina Kapf, New York, and
May Britnell of Saskatoon.
