President's Report
By ELIZABETH H. BJARNARSON
Dear Friends and Fellow Workers in Christ:
I am exceedingly glad to be with you today. I feel a flow of
friendship circulating round about us. Here in Selkirk, the home
of Mrs. Olafson, who was our gracious and capable president for
so many years, the Lutheran Women’s League seems to have come
home for its convention.
We have been graciously received and I know that our stay
here will be very enjoyable.
This is the 30th Annual Convention of the Lutheran Women’s
League (Icelandic) and I bid you all welcome with all the sincerity
of my heart. Thirty years is a long time and in that time the
Lutheran Women’s League has accomplished much. It has been
organized into a very worthwhile societ.y. It has developed into a
strong self-sustained Christian movement within our Icelandic
Lutheran Synod of the United Lutheran Church of America. Our
Sunrise Lutheran Camp is a beautiful result of our efforts.
We also have to our credit our yearly magazine, Ardis, which
has blossomed forth and given us the thoughts and high inspiration

Sunday School Mission is another worthwhile project which has
been going on for many years, and it is a project which I think
should never be laid aside. We should make sure that all Sunday
School fields that are struggling to teach the Word of God and to
further His work are assured of ample assistance from the Lutheran
Women’s League.
Temperance is always on our agenda. Our dear member, Mrs.
Bardal, has worked long and hard for its cause. God grant that we
as a league and as individuals work equally hard for the good of
mankind by keeping temperance to the fore, and be not ashamed
to admit that overindulgence in liquor is breaking down the social
life of men and women of today. Let us therefore fight liquor and
all its evils as we never fought before.
We have our own Sunrise Lutheran Camp for our boys and
