for Camps and Summer Schools of the U.L.C.A., spoke on the value
of leadership training conducted at church camps. He placed Sunrise
Lutheran Camp among the finest. Mrs. Olafsson reported: last year
all the buildings painted, trees planted and an outdoor chapel erected.
General welfare, such as health of campers, safety in swimming and
other sports as good. She paid tribute to the many who helped to
make the camp the success it is and urged both Ladies Aids and
individuals to visit the camp and thus make it a personal home. She
expressed gratitude to the many that sponsor the closing nights of
the different groups of campers.
Library — This is now almost completed. The financial state-
ment showed cash in bank, June 9, 1953, $252.83. Receipts, $11.00.
Total, $263.83. Disbursements, $250.00. Cash on hand, $13.83. Total,
$263.83.
Temperance — Mrs. Margret Bardal, Lutheran Women’s League
representative to the Manitoba Temperance Alliance, gave a report.
A donation of $25.00 was made to the M.T.A. funds.
Ardis — Financial report given by Mrs. Flora Benson, assistant
manager of Ardis, showed: Receipts, $1,028.28. Disbursements,
$997.54. Receipts over expenditures, $30.74. Balance from last year,
$1,014.91. Funds on hand, May 26, 1954, $1,045.73. Mrs. Inga Gillies
reported the publication as a success and anticipates the 1954 issue
as an especially fine one.
Sunday Schools — Recommended that families in isolated
districts be encouraged to have instruction for children in the home
and avail themselves of Sunday School literature provided by the
committee.
Handicraft — The Annual Handicraft Display creates greater
interest each year as does the Annual Name Quilt. This year the
ladies of Bru, Grund and Baldur will make the quilt.
