the past which in retrospect took on a delightful dreamy and rosy
hue. The quilt is in fact a Bridge of Memories joining time long
gone to the quiet restful, unhurried time of now, a sort of kaleidi-
scope of what has been and still lives, in the memory of the lady
whose handiwork it is.
The owner and creator of this article is a resident of the Betel
Home at Gimli, whose years are many. She is Una Lindal widow
of Lydur Lindal and a long time resident of Winnipeg. A dress-
maker of note all her life, Mrs. Lindal sewed this Quilt with her
usual care and dispatch. It took a very short time to put it together.
It would be difficult to find a mistake in it. Aside from a hearing
loss, Mrs. Lindal is in excellent health and plans on making
another quilt from the remainder of the stock of beautiful patches,
next winter, if she is spared.
One cannot help but admire women like her, who despite
advancing years continue to show an interest in life in general and
in hobbies in particular. A year or so ago, Una Lindal flew to
Toronto for a holiday and enjoyed this experience immensely.
She is one of many who have sought a haven at Betel, but who
are, by no means, ready to sit idle with folded hands—just waiting.
On the contrary, life for many of those Senior citizens is still a
challenge and an adventure. Who knows? Maybe there will be
another quilt sewn by Mrs. Lindal this coming winter, at the
Handicraft Display at the Convention next spring.
