Bertha Henrickson
1886 — 1964
On April 14, 1964, while visiting
her daughter Audrey, Mrs. John A.
Head, in Toronto, Ont., Mrs. Hen-
rickson passed away. The funeral
service was conducted in First
Lutheran Church by Dr. V. J.
Eylands, assisted by Rev. E. P.
Johnston.She was laid to rest in
the family plot in Brookside
Cemetery.
Born in Iceland on June 29,
1886, Mrs. Henrickson came with
her parents to Winnipeg at an
early age and lived here the re-
mainder of her life.
She was a lifetime member of
First Lutheran Church and an
active worker in the Senior Ladies
Aid. Her role in the Lutheran
Women’s League was particularly noteworthy. She served in many
offices within the League. At one time she was on the Editorial
Staff of Ardis. She was one of the founders of Sunrise Camp at
Husavick, Man., and served on the Camp Board. The Camp was
very dear to her heart and she worked tirelessly in support of it.
At the time of her death she was secretary of the Camp Board, an
office she had held for many years. The Jón Sugurdsson Chapter
I.O.D.E. was another of her many interests. As a member of it she
gave willingly of her time and talents for years.
Mrs. Henrickson was a school teacher both before her marriage
to Henry G. Henrickson and after his death in 1922. She was highly
regarded in the profession as a competent and dedicated teacher.
During her latter years she became a teacher at Evening School
for new Canadians.
