1896 — 1964
Sigrid Olson passed away sud-
denly May 8, 1964, at her residence
Dunrobin Apartment, Winnipeg.
She was born in Iceland, Feb-
ruary 18, 1896 and came to
America with her uncle and aunt,
Mr. and Mrs. Johann (Joe) Thor-
geirson who adopted her.
Sigga, as she was affectionately
called by her many friends, was an
accomplished musician, a talented
pianist and the possessor of a
lovely singing voice, which was
heard every Sunday in the early
years of broadcasting with “The
Vesper Hour Choir”. She was also
a soloist in Augustine United
Church and First Lutheran, and
a member of the Women’s Musical
Club of Winnipeg. A charter member of the Women’s Association
of First Lutheran Church, she contributed much of her talent and
time to that organization.
Sigga will be remembered for her charming, intelligent, kind
and generous personality which endeared her to her many friends
and relatives.
On April 18, 1916, she married Dr. Baldur H. Olson who pre-
deceased her a few years ago. Surviving are their four children,
two daughters, Kathryn O’Neill, and Aileen Stephenson, two sons,
Eric and Norman, fourteen grandchildren and two great-grand-
children.
The funeral service was conducted by Rev. V. J. Eylands, D.D.,
in First Lutheran Church.
