President's Report
Greetings to all delegates and friends assembled for the 40th
annual convention of the Lutheran Women’s League. We are grate-
ful for the kind invitation extended from the Arborg and Geysir
parishes to hold the convention here.
It is my distinct pleasure to welcome the women’s organizations
represented. We regret that some of the organizations have not
sent delegates but we know they have remembered us in their
prayers.
Sunrise Lutheran Camp at Husavick is our primary concern,
as always. It seems we could be on the threshold of a re-awakening
to camping. At an executive meeting of the Camp Board held at
the home of Mr. Gissur Eliasson, Pastor Schmitt was most enthusi-
astic about the coming camping season. Perhaps his fervour and
zeal has aroused the attention of people in the various congrega-
tions to the awareness of the value of spending a week in Christian
fellowship at a camp such as Sunrise Lutheran Camp.
An “Open House Day” at the camp has been planned for the
21st of June. At that time a flag, which the Imperial Daughters
of the Empire have given to the camp, will be presented to the
camp board. It is hoped that a great number of people will gather
to visit the camp and enjoy the beautiful surroundings with friends
of the Sunrise Lutheran Camp. Please bring a basket lunch. Coffee
will be provided.
Since the time of the convention last year The Lutheran
Women’s League has been saddened by the passing of some of our
members. I should like to mention our dear friend, Mrs. Thjod-
bjorg Henrickson, who was such a strong advocate for the Lutheran
Women’s League for a good many years. Sunrise Lutheran Camp
was particularly close to her heart.
At the convention held in the Glenboro parish last year the
following resolution was duly adopted and sent to the Central
Canada Synod of America:
“Resolved that the Lutheran Women’s League become associ-
ated with the Central Canada Synod, in the operation and main-
tenance of Sunrise Lutheran Camp in Husavick, Manitoba and that
