Lutheran Synod, I feel that the time has come to present the
keys for “Sunrise” to our Synod. I believe that with complete
authority over and responsibility for our Camp, a well oriented
and co-ordinated program will evolve and that the original hopes
for its objectives will reach great and lasting heights of fulfill-
ment.
I would therefore recommend that this be the last year of
operation under its present regime and that we make an official
presentation of the Camp to the President of the Central Canada
Synod, Pastor Otto Olson at suitable time this fall.
Further and finally I wish to express an idea which is shared
wholeheartedly by members and associates of the Camp Board,
that an appropriately designed entrance gate be erected as a me-
morial to the many dedicated people wrho planted a dream some
twenty years ago amid the untamed beauty of a lovely spot along
the shores of Lake Winnipeg. This entrance could be an attractive
and lasting tribute to these pioneers of our Camp and to the many
men and women who have helped to give the reality of substance,
shape and spirit to that dream. This could take the form of a
bronze plaque with a fitting inscription which could be incorporated
into the general design. For years to come this gate would sym-
bolize in a signiíicant way the closing of one chapter and the
opening of another in the continuing story of “Sunrise”.
