countless numbers of Ladies’ Aid affairs in the past. Here, represen-
tatives of the various organizations within the church, paid their
tributes. Musical selections were rendered by the Church Soloists
and the Choir. After the refreshments and program, the large
number of friends present were given the opportunity of chatting
to the ladies personally and fraternizing with them. The number
of people who came that evening showed the high esteem in which
the Ladies’ Aid is held. It was indeed a memorable, albeit a ten-
derly touching gathering when, not only those present but those
who have passed on, were remembered with grateful thanks.
The following Thursday October 6, the Ladies’ Aid was honored
at a Birthday Luncheon in the Lower Auditorium as the guests of
the recently combined womens’ group, the First Lutheran Church
Women. An enjoyable program was presented and the aftemoon
concluded with a short Ladies’ Aid meeting:
Every member who was physically able to be present, was
there, even those who are now residing at Gimli Betel and Selkirk
Betel and all joined in this Festival of Gratitude, which very
fittingly took place at the Thanksgiving Season.
We, the women of the First Lutheran Church Women, join the
Congregation in thanking our mothers, grandmothers and friends,
the members of the Ladies’ Aid for all their work, love and devo-
tion during these Eighty Years of service.
God bless the Ladies’ Aid collectively and individually, and
grant them the strength to carry on as long as they see fit.
Ingibjörg Goodridge.
