President's Report
Members and friends of The Lutheran Women’s League as-
sembled at the 42nd annual convention at The First Lutheran
Church, Winnipeg, Manitoba:
We are indeed pleased to welcome you to our church. A dream
of several years has been realized in changing the interior of our
church. It is a beautiful edifice in which to worship.
The Lutheran Women’s League has enjoyed many years of
fruitful endeavour, accomplished through the earnest devotion of
its many members. The record contains the names of those who
have given of their talents, their means and their time to further
the cause of the Lutheran Church.
Sunrise Lutheran Camp, situated on the shore of Lake Winni-
peg, at Ilusavick, Manitoba has been the main item on the agenda
of every convention for the past twenty years. There is no way to
measure the tremendous effect the camp has had on the hundreds
of young people who have spent the summer there. The religious
training that was given will be a guiding influence throughout
their lives. All those who were leaders in the various depart-
ments, many without renumeration of any kind in the early years,
can feel that they contributed much to the training of the young
people entrusted to their care.
The publication “Árdís” contains inestimable records of the
activities of the Lutheran Women’s League; articles by Icelandic
women, about many subjects; photographs and obituaries of many
in the various communities. The editors and management are to be
commended for their prodigious effort in maintaining a magazine
of such high calibre. It is safe to say that it has received wonderful
reports from all those who have been on the mailing list through-
out the years. The complete set of the magazine would be invalu-
able in the archives of the Lutheran Church and provide an ex-
cellent source of reference for untold years. Provision for the
preservation of the available copies of “Árdís” must be made. There
