‘‘Árdís”. The editors and management made this decision after very
careful consideration.
On the agenda for this convention is the report of the resolu-
tions committee, appointed at the convention held in the village
of Langruth in 1965, will be presented. In essence, it will report
its findings, after thoughtful study, regarding the ownership and
operation of Sunrise Lutheran Camp. Should this convention vote
to offer the camp to The Central Canada Synod, let us do so with
the realization that in maintaining a camp, probably second to
none in the province of Manitoba, we have a great deal to offer.
We have the utmost confidence that The Central Canada Synod,
to which we are the privileged to belong, will carry on the work
which has been so ably done, and continue to train the young
people in a religious camp.
In the 1962 edition of “Árdís”, Miss Lilja Guttormsson wrote
a thought provoking article, when the Icelandic Synod disbanded,
entitled “Cross Roads”, in which she pointed out that The Lutheran
Women’s League must consider whether to remain as a small
isolated group or “whether to take their place in the larger group
in the Kingdom of Christ.” In 1957, 39 delegates representing 28
societies attended The Lutheran Women’s Lague convention; in
1964, 13 Ladies’ Aids were represented by 21 delegates and in 1966,
7 Ladies’ Aids are represented. It is quite clear, it seems to me, that
we have indeed come to the crossroads.
I wish to thank the executive and members for their coopera-
tion during my term of office. Without their continued interest
and support it would have been impossible to fill the important
office of president. It has been a pleasure to be associated with The
Lutheran Women’s League.
The convention did vote to offer Sunrise Lutheran Camp, as a
gift, to The Central Canada Synod. The executive committee has
been making provision to carry out the articles of the resolution
passed. A letter was sent to the president of The Central Canada
Synod, Dr. Otto Olson Jr., advising of the gift and outlining the
wishes of The Lutheran Women’s League.
I realize that it was a very difficult decision to consider re-
linquishing the ownership and management of the camp. However,
I feel certain that the women of The Lutheran Women’s League,
