In this table no thyroid glands of 40 grams and over are included. The inclusion of few very samann thyroids 3,4 and 5 grams might
be disdisputeable.
It is to be noted that here the highest weights of female thyroids are now in the 20-29 years age gropus, a noticeable change.
It is also to be noted that the mean thyroid weights of females in the 20-49 years age groups are now 16,53 grams (obtained without
grouping the series), which shows more than 40 per cent enlargement since the 1938-1940 investigation, while the male thyroid
enlargment still is some 20 percent.
