Starfandi fólk 41 Mynd 2.6 Hlutfall vinnulítilla 1991-2002 Figure 2.6 Underemployment rates 1991—2002 % Karlar Males Konur Females Hugtök og aðferðir Starfandi telst hver sá svarandi sem vann a.m.k. eina klst. Concepts and methodology Employed persons are classified as those respondents who worked one hour or more in the reference week or were temporarily absent from the work which they are usually hired to do. Economic activity is classified according to ISAT 95, the Icelandic Classification of Economic Activities. Because of its special significance in the Icelandic labour market, fish processing is reported separately rather than being included under other industry. Areas of economic activity which cannot be assigned codes due to inadequate information are classified with other services and cultural activity. This involves very few cases, in the range of 0-0.1%. Occupation is classified according to ÍSTARF 95, the Icelandic Classification of Occupations. In the rare cases when a suitable category of occupation could not be identified due to inadequate information, the job in question was classified as unspecialised. Only a few such cases were involved, or 0-0.1%. Underemployed is applied to a person who worked less than 40 hours in the reference week and worked less than that person normally does because of a shortage of assignments, industrial disputes or unemployment for part of the week, while at the same time looking for another job or extra job. A respondent in a part-time job who wished to be in a full-time job and was working less than a total of 40 hours in the reference week, including extra jobs, was also classified as underemployed. Further information on concepts and methodology can be found in Chapter 10: Synopsis ofmethods and concepts.
