166 Stéttarfélög Hugtök og aðferðirHugtök og aðferðir Launþegi telst hver sá vera sem er ráðinn til starfa hjá fyrirtæki, félagi eða hjá ríki eða sveitarfélögum og fær tekjur sínar í formi dagvinnulauna, mánaðarlauna, bónusgreiðslna eða hluts. Þá telst sá launþegi sem er atvinnulaus en er að leita sér að launaðri vinnu. Stéttarfélög eru félög launþega sem starfa samkvæmt lögum um stéttarfélög og vinnudeilur og eru skráð hjá ríkissátta- semjara. Skekkjur. Þegar bornar eru saman töflur um fjölda í stéttarfélögum samkvæmt vinnumarkaðskönnunum og fjölda virkra félagsmanna í stéttarfélögum í árslok, sem byggjast á upplýsingum stéttarfélaganna sjálfra, sést að nokkru munar á þessum tveimur heimildum. Munurinn liggur m.a. í því að í mörgum tilvikum halda launþegar að þeir séu í stéttarfélagi vegna þess að þeir greiða til þess án þess þó að viðkomandi stéttarfélag hafi veitt þeim formlega inngöngu. I öðrum tilvikum er eftirlaunafólk talið til virkra félagsmanna í árslok. Vogir. I vinnumarkaðsrannsóknum er aðeins spurt um stéttarfélög í nóvember ár hvert. Til að fá áætlaðar árstölur þarf því að vega sérstaklega þegar greint er eftir stéttarfélögum. Labour unions are associations of employees operating in accordance with the Labour Union and Industrial Disputes Act and registered with the State Conciliation and Mediation Service. Errors. A comparison of the tables for union membership according to labour force surveys and the active union membership at the end of the year based on figures from the unions themselves reveals some disparities between these two sources. One reason for this difference is that in many cases employees are under the impression that they belong to a union since they pay dues to it, although the union has not formally admitted them. In other cases, pensioners are counted among active members at the end of the year. Weightings. The ILFS only enquires about unions as of November in each year. This therefore needs special weighting in order to generate annual estimates when breaking down figures by unions.
