atvinnuleysið mældist í Slóvakíu, 19,3%.
Amongst countries that submit data on average annual
working hours, Icelanders were in fourth place, working
1,847 hours on average per employed resident aged 15-64
years in 2001. Overall, Icelanders work more hours per
resident in the same age group than any other nation in the
OECD since the activity rate in Iceland is much higher than
in the comparison countries.
The unemployment rate in Iceland was 2.3% in 2001,
while the lowest unemployment rate in the OECD was 1.9%
in Luxembourg. The Slovak Republic had the highest
unemployment rate, 19.3%.
