Helstu niðurstöður eru eftirfarandi: Fjöldi námsmanna 16 ára og eldri á árinu 2002 var 33.000 og fjölgaði þeim um 600 frá 2001. The main findings are as follows: There were 33,000 students aged 16 and above in 2002, an increase of 600 from the previous year. In 2002, 19.400 students had jobs alongside their studies, compared with 20,800 the year before. Very few students had full-time employment; the normal average working week of students was 22.8 hours in 2002. This number of working hours has varied somewhat since 1991. By far the largest number of students worked in the service sector - 15,700 in 2002 compared with 16,900 in 2001. Most students employed in primary industries and manufacturing were men. A respondent is classified as a student if attending an institution within the general school system, working as an apprentice or engaged in in-service training during the month before the survey was conducted, or if working alongside studies in the reference week.
