“Dance Like Everyone’s Watching” is a dance/movement workshop
geared towards finding your individual freedom through movement.
Welcome to all bodies and people of all levels. Whether you’ve been
professionally dancing since you came out of the womb, or you trip
over your own feet while walking down the street, this class is for you!
Led by Rebecca Hidalgo, a New York City-based performer,
choreographer, multimedia artist and fitness instructor, this class is
rooted in her experience as a dancer and performance artist in
the NYC queer nightlife scene; a place where experimenting with
dance is thriving and celebrated.
Within the active workshop, we will touch on topics such as:
How can you, individually, find your freedom through movement?
How can you use your movement as a conversation, and incite
feelings of happiness in yourself and others?
How can you use this to benefit your daily life, self expression, and
sense of confidence?
How can you use your movement as a form of empowerment and
resistance to oppressors?

Get ready to be surprised at what your body can do, to sweat, hear
some awesome music, and most importantly, get ready to have
fun! Be prepared to let go of any inhibitions or self-judgement you
may have, because at the end of this workshop, you will have the
urge to dance down every street and be sure that everyone sees
how fabulous you truly are. Event in English.
„Dansaðu með stolti“ er vinnustofa sem hefur það að markmiði
að kanna frelsi einstaklingsins í gegnum hreyfingu og dans.
Hún er opin öllum, óháð getu eða líkamsgerð. Hvort sem þú
hefur verið atvinnudansari frá fæðingu eða kemst ekki fram úr
rúminu án þess að hrasa um eigin fætur er þessi vinnustofa fyrir
þig!
Rebecca Hidalgo frá New York stýrir vinnustofunni en
hún er dansari, danshöfundur, multimedia-listakona og
líkamsræktarþjálfari. Vinnustofan byggir á reynslu Rebeccu af
vinnu við dans og listir á hinsegin senunni í New York þar sem
tilraunir og tjáning með dansi dafnar og er fagnað. Viðburðurinn
fer fram á ensku.

Íslenskir hommar döðruðu við hermenn á Borginni á fimmta
áratugnum, síðar leituðu lesbíurnar skjóls í Stúdentakjallaranum
áður en dragið blómstraði á Rauðu myllunni. Íslenskt hinsegin
skemmtanalíf hefur verið alls konar í gegnum árin – leynt og
ljóst, hávært og lágvært. Fyrir sléttum tíu árum birtist ítarleg og hressandi úttekt Hilmars
Hildar-Magnússonar á skemmtanalífi hinsegin fólks í gegnum
tíðina í veglegu 30 ára afmælisriti Samtakanna ‘78. Nú er tilvalið
að rýna í úttektina og það á fæti! Gengið verður um miðborgina
og valdar söguslóðir kannaðar, dreypt á hressandi drykkjum auk
þess sem síðastliðin tíu ár, sem enn eru óskráð, verða tekin fyrir.
Gengið verður frá Hlemmi kl. 18 og endað á Naustinu en þaðan
er örstutt rölt á gömlu höfnina þar sem hinsegin siglingin hefst
kl. 21. Að sjálfsögðu er áfengi innifalið! Leiðsögn á íslensku.
Athugið: Afar takmarkað miðaframboð! Miðasala hefst á

Icelandic gays flirted with the soldiers at Hotel Borg back in the
days. Later on the lesbians hid at Stúdentakjallarinn (the Student
Cellar) but eventually the drag scene started to bloom at Rauða
Myllan (our very own Moulin Rouge). Sometimes the queer
nightlife has been hidden, and sometimes it has been out and
loud.
If you want to hear more about our queer nightlife in the past
decades you should join us on the very first Icelandic queer pub
crawl. We will walk around a few of our historical places and hear
stories but of course we‘ll have something to drink as well, which is
included in the admission fee. Our approximately 2,5 hours journey
starts at Hlemmur at 6 p.m. and ends at Naustið, which is around
the corner from the Old Harbour where our Queer Cruise starts at 9
