The evidence suggests that AM. 119a, 8° and AM.
585c, 4° derive from B through a lost intermediate
text which contained their common variants from B.
This intermediate text had the central lacuna which
originated in B, but neither of the later copyists was
content to leave this gap in his version of the saga.
Each supplied a central episode from some other text
of the tale.
In AM. 119a, 8° the filling of the gap is crudely
done. The B-type text occupies fos. 1—7 and 23—33
(using the separate numbering of the leaves of Gibbons
saga). The text of fo. 7 ends abruptly at line 17 of
the verso side with the words og Tclædizt, the rest of
the page being left blank, while fo. 23r begins Nw
sitia þau. The supplied text occupies fos. 8—22, save
for fo. 21, which is an inserted leaf bearing only the
signature of one Oláfur Jonsson. Fo. 8r begins abrupt-
ly with the words sparlaked Gybbön sier þar þa standa
