MARGARET STONE
1892 — 1949
Margaret Stone was born at the Narrows, Manitoba, on the
í'ourth of December, 1892. Her parents were the late Jön Sigurdson
and Pálina Thordardottir. Margaret received her education at
Wesley College, in Winnipeg
and at the Collegiate in Selkirk,
Man. After o b t a i n i n g her
teacher’s diploma she taught at
several schools in rural Mani-
toba and wherever she taught
she left the imprint of her kind-
ness and love of humanity.
On December 29th, 1914,
Margaret married Thorstein
Stone, who predeceased her in
February, 1944. Margaret fol-
lowed him to her rest in August,
1949. They were blessed with
eight children — five of whom
survived their parents — John
Timothy, G o r d o n Clifford,
George Albert, Margaret and
Dorothy. Margaret and Thor-
stein are also survived by two
grandchildren, the son and
daughter of Timothy and his
wife, the former Margaret Scott. Their daughter Margaret is
married to Terence Algeo. Margaret is also survived by three
brothers and twin sisters, Sigriður, of Swan River, Emma of
Morden, Anna Forsyth of Eriksdale. Herman of Churchbridge, and
Aðalsteinn of Eriksdale.
Margaret Stone was for many years an active member in the
Woman’s Association of the First Lutheran Church in Winnipeg.
She gave of her time and talents unsparingly and was beloved by
all her co-workers. .
