meeting of the Ladies’ Aids in the Argyle Community. It was a
pleasure to meet friends of long standing, as well as new members,
in many instances. They are daughters of those friends, I
had not seen since they were children and many I had never seen.
These are now working side by side with their mothers, and before
long will be the banner bearers of good in their church and com-
munity. I also received an invitation from the Jr. Ladies’ Aid of
Selkirk. There was a group of young women very keenly interested
in the progress of their church and community. I was amazed at the
reports given at that meeting. It is gratifying to find our young
women, who are so capable and willing, take on these various
endeavors, and put forth such effort to improve and uphold our
churches in the various districts. God grant you ever renewed
courage in all your endeavors.
Another gratifying experience to me was an invitation to
accompany the Sunday School Committee on their annual visit to
the Interlake district. I had never been there before, but often
wanted to. There I met friends of long standing as well. I will not
elaborate further on that as you will hear a report from that
committee.
Last April I was contacted by an official of the Blind in refer-
ence to procuring a period of ten days at our camp for a group of
60 blind and partially blind people. Last year they surveyed other
camps and could not be suited. Through reports they had received
of Sunrise Camp they felt they wanted to make this request as well
as go and see it with the prospect of coming, if terms could be met.
Mr. S. O. Bjerring, chairman of the Board of Directors, accompanied
by Mrs. Ingibjorg Olafson, our Camp Director, as well as the Camp
Secretary, Mrs. H. G. Henrickson, invited the Superintedent of the
Institute for the Blind, and his Secretary to go to the camp and
inspect it. They were very favorably impressed and their enthusi-
asm grew with the inspection of each building, and as you will see
by the Camp folders (available at this convention). The period made
available for their group is from June 26th to July 5th. This time
will not seriously interfere with any of the children’s groups. The
L.W.L. have every reason to feel justly proud to know that Sunrise
Camp has been selected for such a group as the blind people of
Winnipeg, and we are very happy to be able to accommodate them.
