PERIACTIN compares favorably in potency with the most
potent antihistamines. Moreover, it is also a potent antag-
onist of serotonin, the possible role of which in allergic and
pruritic states has aroused considerable interest.
Antipruritic par excellehce ...
PERIACTIN exerts potent antipruritic action even in certain
cases in which no allergen is discoverable or even sus-
peoted as a cause of the pruritus. The effects of a single
dose of Perjactin tast 4 to 6 hours.
Well tolerated ...
The mostcommon of the few, usually mild, side effects of
PERiACTlN is drowsiness, and even this may prove advan-
tágeous by eliminating the need for additional sedation.
Neither a corticosteroid nor a phenothiazine derivative, it
is usually well tolerated.
Supplied:
Tablets, each containing 4 mg. cyproheptadine hydrochlo-
ride, in bottles of 30 and 100.
Syrup, each 5 cc. contains 2 mg. cyproheptadine hydro*
chloride, in bottles of 118 cc.
