Glutaraldehyde Solution
kills all pathogens...
and kills them fast
Since bacteriological studies have yielded
equivocal results, the relationship between
contaminated anaesthetic equipment and
post-operative infection has not been clearly
defined. Many workers in this field agree
that where contamination exists it should be
eli.minated.
Recent work has shown that the use of
buffered glutaraldehyde solution cidex forthe
routine disinfection of anaesthetic equipment
ensures a significant and consistent reduction
of bacterial flora.
CIÐEX is a 2% aqueous solution of glutaralde-
hyde, supplied in 1 gallon plastic jugs with
E. Coli. electron photomicrograph
enlarged 78,000 times.
an attached container of buffer powder. The
solution can be stored indefinitely; after act-
ivation it remains stable for two weeks. No
other mixing or dilution is required.
cidex solution will kill tubercle bacillus in
less than 10 minutes and all other bacteria in
less than 1 minute. It is sporicidal in less than
3 hours.
Where doubt exists cidex is the steril-
ising technique of choice for anaesthe-
tic equipment.
