SUMMARY.
Descriptions are given on the Icelandic species of Helvella and Verpa, made
after dryed material kept in the Museum of Natural History, Akureyri.
According to the new European monograph by Henry Dissing, the following
species of Helvella have been collected in Iceland: H. acetabulum, H. costifera, H.
albella, H. lacunosa, H. crispa, H. queleti, H. corium, H. atra, H. philonotis, or
nine species. With the exception of two species, II. atra and H. coslifera, they are
all represented in the Akureyri Herbarium, although the identity of the specimens
hier refered to H. philonotis and H. corium may be doubted.
Information is given on localities and the distribution of the species in Iceland
is pointed at.
As in most other European countries, H. lacunosa is the most common species
of Helvella in Iceland, the others may be designed as rare.
Verpa digitaliformis has been found in a few places in North- and East-Iceland,
mostly in somewhat alpine situations.
