ls/a The ice edge has moved to 30 miles
distance off Cape Straumnes whereas the Húna-
flói has been fillecf by pack ice.
18/g Navigation bv Cape Horn considered
very difficult. The western part of Húnafiói
and every harbour of Strandir blocked. The
coasting vessel Skjaldbreið succeeded in round-
ing the eastern coasts and to reach western
Húnaflói w'here it had to turn back. Practically
open water off the N-coast up to 66°30' N.
21/s The ice is drifting rapidly S-wards along
the E-coast and has reached 64° N. South of
65° 10' the ice is very open, gradually becoming
closer towards North. About 25 miles NE of
Cape Langanes the covering is almost 8/8. —
The eastern eclge of the pack was 65 miles E of
Cape Langanes and 42 miles of Gape Gerpir.
20/s The map shows the ice situation at the
end of month. The ice is very close at the NE-
ern lieadlands and the eastern fjords filled with
loose drift ice. The ice margin is running along
the northern head lands, but the fjords are free
of ice.
